Jo - Ann's Gardens Inc. is a family owned and operated business located in the south coastal town of Wells, Maine just minutes from exit 19 of the Maine Turnpike.  Jo-Ann's Gardens started out as a roadside stand back in 1960 by Joan Farley and Ann Grant, thus Jo - Ann's Garden's name was founded.  As we look forward to celebrating our 48th year in 2008 we look back at how our business has grown to incorporate seven green houses, a nursery garden center, and a full service florist and gift shop.

For the spring of 2008, the garden center has been expanded yet again. An increased shrubbery and tree section has been created along with a broadened perennial section. Customers will be able to choose from over six thousand perennials at the beginning of the season! We will have many new species of plants as well as more varieties and colors of ones carried in the past. For those with water gardens and ponds, we have something for you as well. New for this year, water plants of many varieties will be available. Please let us know what you think. Your thoughts are very important to us!

In addition to physical expansions, we will also be carrying more products in our sales shed for your one stop shopping needs. We will have fertilizer (slow release, weekly applied and shrubbery/tree,) water crystals, grass seed and bird seed. We will also have many garden accessories available as well.

Currently, the business is operated by second generation owners, Peter J. Farley who has an associates degree in horticulture from the University of New Hampshire, and William J. Farley with an associates degree in plant soils from the University of Maine at Orono.

We believe that our customers should be treated with knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous help.  The same way we would want to be treated.  It is through this belief and our strong support of the York County Maine community schools and organizations that Jo - Ann's Gardens has been voted the best garden center in the county for two years in a row by the York County Maine Coast Star polls.
